Ramana made these remarks while inaugurating the Telugu translation of Rabindranath Tagore's renowned work 'Gitanjali,' translated by P Krishnaiah, a former IAS officer and Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board. The event was organized by Emesco Publishers at CVRGM High School.
He noted that translating such a significant piece of literature is a challenging task, as each word in poetry carries a unique emotion. A successful translation must capture these subtleties to do justice to the original work. A translator must internalize the poet's emotions to convey the true essence of the piece.
Justice Ramana praised Krishnaiah for his efforts, highlighting that he has managed to encapsulate the essence of Tagore’s poetry in the Telugu translation, making it accessible to local readers while preserving the literary merit and poetic beauty of the original.
