Their journey began at the 16th Bucharest International Poetry Festival in Romania, where they attended the opening ceremony. Zhang Lili, cultural counselor at the Chinese embassy, emphasized the unifying power of poetry across borders. She highlighted the historical bond between China and Romania through poetic exchanges and expressed hopes for enhanced cultural cooperation at the festival, which aims to deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.
During the festival, held at the Central University Library and the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Bucharest, Wu, Ya, and Yu performed works such as "Blazing Sun," "Time with a Suffix," and "An Operatic Life." At the invitation of the Chinese embassy, the poets also engaged in discussions with young diplomats, focusing on topics like modern Chinese poetry and the contributions of female poets. Participants acknowledged the significance of poetry in Chinese literature and cultural diplomacy and committed to introducing contemporary Chinese poetry to an international audience through various initiatives.
In Germany, the poets participated in Mid-Autumn poetry gatherings at the China Cultural Center in Berlin and at Magdeburg's municipal library, themed "A Shared Moment Across the World." The events featured poetry, instrumental music, and singing, bridging Chinese and German literary communities to celebrate the festival and explore modern Chinese literature.
