Rosewater, who has a background in teaching middle school theatre and high school English, also worked at an independent bookstore. She holds a graduate degree in Children's Literature and resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Outside of writing, she enjoys running and cheering for local roller derby teams.

When asked about her reading influences, Rosewater pointed to Beverly Cleary's Ramona the Pest as a pivotal book. She expressed her desire to create relatable characters and capture the spirit of childhood experiences in her writing, aiming for a more diverse representation than what was available in books during her youth.

In describing Kenzie Kickstarts a Team, Rosewater used the phrase "Fierce female friends on wheels!" The story revolves around Kenzie and her best friend Shelly, who aspire to join a newly formed junior derby league. They must recruit three additional players, which complicates their friendship dynamics, particularly when Shelly suggests including Kenzie's neighbor, who is also Kenzie's crush.

Rosewater drew inspiration for her characters from friends and experiences, creating personalities that reflect aspects of her own life. She shares traits with each character since the series will focus on different protagonists in each book.

Though currently a fan rather than an active participant due to her pregnancy, Rosewater initially trained as a player and referee in roller derby. She values the sport's empowering nature and its challenge to traditional athletic standards.

Collaboration with illustrator Sophie Escabasse has been a highlight for Rosewater, who found that Escabasse captured the essence of her characters perfectly. She expressed excitement for the illustrations, particularly the final one in the first book.

The sequel, Shelly Struggles to Shine, is set to release on September 15. This book will feature Shelly and the Daredevils as they participate in their first official tournament. While it will focus on creativity in sports, it hints at developments in Kenzie's romantic interests as the series progresses.

In a rapid-fire round, Rosewater mentioned the last book she read was Nicole Melleby’s In the Role of Brie Hutchens, a movie watched was Into the Spiderverse, and the latest song she enjoyed was “Start a Riot” from the Spiderverse soundtrack. She recommended several upcoming middle-grade books, including titles by Loriel Ryon and Ash Van Otterloo.
