On October 27, 2026, "Ghosting Aloha," a new novel focused on themes of fear and friendship, was announced as a collaborative effort by 11 students from Sacred Hearts Academy. Paul Sneed, an educator at Sacred Hearts Academy, described the initiative's inception. He proposed the idea of a summer writing project to then-principal Cleo Eubanks, and, as he stated, they successfully turned the idea into reality.
To gain insight into the students' contributions to the novel, Kevin Allen from HPR spoke with three of the writers: Meredith Mullen, Isabel Chang, and Lilia Gushiken. Chang noted that prior to the workshop, she had never considered herself a writer but now feels confident in that identity.
Sneed emphasized the importance of the students' achievement, highlighting the pride in their ability to see their names in print as contributing authors. "I'm so proud of the students," he remarked.
