In her poems, written in both English and Spanish, García addresses the emotional journey associated with visible differences, touching on themes of disbelief, embarrassment, anger, frustration, acceptance, empowerment, and self-love. She describes the writing process as both a labor of love and a therapeutic outlet, allowing her to articulate emotions that had gone unexpressed for years. This exploration transformed a personal struggle into a narrative of resilience and self-acceptance.

The book holds additional significance due to the contributions of her daughter, Elizabeth García, a senior at Chester Academy. Elizabeth wrote the poetic foreword and designed the cover, marking a special collaboration that showcases the talents of both mother and daughter across generations. As a poet and lifelong resident of Chester, García hopes her work will celebrate diverse voices and inspire others to embrace their unique identities.
