Published by TimelessScript House, Chandra’s latest poetry collection delves into themes of grief, resilience, and self-discovery. Her extensive body of work includes poetry, novels, short stories, and works for children and young adults. The Soul’s Sky reflects her personal experiences, philosophical insights, and observations of nature and memory, inviting readers to explore the intricate relationship between the human spirit and its surroundings.
The inspiration for The Soul’s Sky stemmed from a personal period of bereavement following her mother’s passing. After being transferred to Kolkata, she found solace along the River Hooghly, where her reflections and emotions transformed into poetry. In the book's preface, she notes that the river’s flow helped her understand how grief can evolve into memory and wisdom, shaping her connection to the city and its culture.
The collection traverses personal experiences while addressing broader existential questions. Chandra emphasizes that the poems reveal insights that arise when one listens closely to nature, memories, and the self.
The title, The Soul’s Sky, was suggested by editor Raksha Hegde after extensive discussions with Chandra. It captures the essence of an inner world that is vast and evolving, complementing the book’s contemplative character.
TimelessScript House has brought this significant addition to Chandra’s bibliography to readers, who have responded positively to its themes of loss and resilience. The book can be purchased on Amazon.
Neelam Saxena Chandra is also a senior officer within the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers and has been recognized across various genres. She was named among India’s 78 most popular authors by Forbes India in 2014 and has received multiple awards for her contributions to literature.
The launch of The Soul’s Sky marked not only the release of a new book but also a celebration of Chandra's ongoing literary journey, inviting readers to reflect on the profound connections between loss, memory, and personal growth.
