For listeners, Spotify is expanding its Audiobooks+ service with new add-on tiers to accommodate the growing demand for audiobooks. These plans will allow dedicated listeners to enjoy more hours of their favorite stories. Family and Student plans will soon be available, enabling households to share and foster listening habits among young readers.
New discovery features will enhance how users find audiobooks. Listeners can now ask questions to receive tailored recommendations based on specific topics or authors. Additionally, the popular Prompted Playlist feature will be expanded to audiobooks, providing personalized suggestions by analyzing users' listening histories and preferences.
For authors, Spotify for Authors will add support for 10 new languages, including French, German, and Spanish, enhancing accessibility for writers globally. In June 2026, Spotify will launch invite-only Audiobook Creation Tools in beta, which will allow self-published authors to create audio versions of their books using ElevenLabs’ technology, eliminating the need for exclusive contracts. Initially available only in English and in select markets, this tool aims to help authors reach a wider audience.
Audiobook engagement on Spotify is on the rise, with listening hours increasing by 60% year over year, and nearly half of current listeners discovering audiobooks for the first time on the platform. Innovations like Page Match, which allows users to switch seamlessly between print or eBooks and their audiobook counterparts, have contributed to this growth, helping listeners to complete books more quickly.
With 1 million subscribers to Audiobooks+ and an anticipated annualized recurring revenue of $100 million, Spotify continues to foster a highly engaged community of users who consume content across multiple formats. Explore all updates from Spotify’s 2026 Investor Day.
