Todd describes his relationship with poetry as an impulse he has followed since childhood, stating that it is difficult to pinpoint exactly why he writes. He sees poetry as his living space, whereas skating defines his identity.
He draws inspiration from a range of acclaimed poets, including Albert Goldbarth, James Seidel, Robert Lowell, Louise Glück, and others. Todd started writing poetry in his youth but delved deeper into it during his undergraduate studies. His teenage years were shaped more by indie and rock music, which connected him to literary figures like Jim Morrison and Jack Kerouac, leading to an exploration of Beat literature that he reflects on as part of his growth.
Currently, Todd is finalizing his third poetry collection and has begun a new project that may evolve into a novel in verse. He enjoys dining at Philippe's in Los Angeles and expresses gratitude for the written word, particularly in print, acknowledging its significance to a readership that appreciates it. Todd's creative pursuits continue to bridge his past as a professional skater with his passion for poetry.
