Organized by Empathy For Youth Academy and Retro Recess, the competition is divided into two categories: junior (ages eight to 12) hosted by teacher Illya Sumanto and senior (ages 13 to 17) overseen by Sabrina Dcates. Participants can compete solo, in pairs, or in groups of up to four, ensuring that every line performed is their own.
This year’s theme, 'We Destine: The World We Want to Live In,' aligns with the citywide 'We Define Our Destiny' campaign, prompting contestants to reflect on the future they envision. Expect to hear verses discussing topics such as environmental concerns, community life, and aspirations, along with poignant inquiries directed at adults. Music will be provided by Notep.
All participants will receive a certificate, and prizes will be awarded to the top performers. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy a walk around Lumpini Park before the performances begin. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to the public.
