During a stirring reading last fall, former U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith emphasized the critical role of poetry in human life, noting how it fosters listening, reflection, and connection across diverse experiences.
Thanks to generous contributions and collaboration, significant progress has been made at the Poetry Center. This includes the completion of the McCauslin-Smith Gardens, the success of the Teacher’s Institute, and the first-ever Indigenous Nations Poets Retreat held in Southern Arizona. The Writing the Community school residency program saw exceptional participation, and three new endowed readings were added to the acclaimed Reading and Lecture series.
Looking ahead, the Poetry Center plans to focus on enhancing its digital presence, including a comprehensive redesign of its website to ensure global access to its unique collection. The organization expresses gratitude to supporters who have contributed to these achievements and encourages continued engagement with the Poetry Center's mission.
