Deahl's book examines the generation of writers who shaped Canadian poetry in the years following Confederation. He has authored or edited over 30 books, primarily in poetry, along with 15 chapbooks. His poetry cycle has also been featured in an hour-long American television special titled *Under the Watchful Eye*.
Among the accompanying poets, Liz Zetlin, Owen Sound’s first poet laureate and co-founder of the Words Aloud Spoken Word Festival, will read as well. She has received several accolades, including the city’s first Outstanding Individual in the Arts in 2013 and the 2024 Lifetime Achievement in the Arts award. Her latest collection is *Prompted by Happiness*.
Current poet laureate Jennifer Frankum will also participate, with three published collections to her name. She writes about everyday moments of wonder, as she describes her work.
David Moss-Cornett, a poet based in Bognor, will complete the lineup. He established the Bognor Coffee House and Words & Wine, and his poetry often reflects themes of family, faith, grief, and belonging.
Books will be available for purchase at the event. For more details, contact the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library at 519-376-6623, extension 3, or via email at [email protected].
