Amazon has rebranded its Kindle Unlimited subscription to Kindle+, while maintaining its monthly subscription cost of $11.99. The new Kindle+ service will offer a diverse collection of content, including millions of eBooks, comics, manga, magazines, and a new array of AI-narrated audiobooks alongside traditional human-narrated versions.

Subscribers to Kindle+ can access up to 20 digital books, audiobooks, or comics simultaneously through the Kindle app. Users can easily switch between text and audio formats for eBooks that offer audiobook versions without losing their place.

Details about the AI-narrated audiobooks were not provided in Amazon’s official FAQ about Kindle+. However, ZDNet has reported that Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) now includes a free Virtual Voice service, enabling authors to create audiobook versions of their works.

Earlier this year, Amazon began testing AI dubbing for select Prime Video content, indicating its expanding use of AI technology. Authors must decide whether to use this free service or opt for professional narrators.

The Kindle+ subscription is currently available in various countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the US, and the UK, where Kindle Unlimited previously operated. Amazon Prime subscribers can also enjoy a free book each month via Amazon First Reads and access a curated selection of the Kindle+ catalog.
