Schwager's writing process began with a single poem that inspired her thoughts to grow. She aims to bring joy to others through poetry, capturing a variety of experiences in her work.
Throughout the collection, Schwager highlights an array of individuals, including friends, couples, caregivers, and young people contemplating their futures. Each poem emphasizes the unique qualities, interests, and contributions of these subjects.
The book delves into themes like romantic love and disappointment, friendship, aging, nature, loss, encouragement, prayer, Easter, and spiritual service, blending humor with deeper reflections.
Christian spirituality plays a significant role in her writing. Schwager credits Jesus and her late loved ones, Danny and Susie, for inspiring her work, with many poems dedicated to themes of prayer, devotion, and God's love.
