Roberts addresses various themes, including racism in football while celebrating the humor and resilience that comes with being a supporter and proud Scouser. He stated, "I’ve always believed Liverpool is a city built on stories, and Liverpool FC is at the heart of so many of them. Through Built Different, I wanted to capture some of the emotions, memories and moments that supporters carry with them, whether they’re from Liverpool or following the club from the other side of the world. These poems are a celebration of the people, the passion and the sense of belonging that make this club and this city so special."
