Louden Kiracofe's Poetry Collection Explores Love and Landscape of the American Southwest

Set against the backdrop of canyons, rivers, and deserts, the collection follows two souls exploring their connection through what Kiracofe describes as "oceans of time." The poems depict intimate moments with vivid imagery, from candlelit evenings along the Rio Chama to encounters with ravens and spirit dogs. Kiracofe integrates the natural world as an active participant, highlighting the sacred forces that infuse everyday life.

At the core of the collection is a tension between longing and fulfillment, exploring the pain of separation alongside the joy of reunion. Kiracofe portrays love as a gateway to the divine, transcending birth and death, and addresses the limitations of language, often reaching toward silence, prayer, and song when words fail. This approach infuses the collection with emotional depth.

Kiracofe's background is unique; he is a Princeton graduate and earned his MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He practiced urology in Durango, Colorado, where he also facilitated The Life Support Group for patients with life-altering illnesses. Additionally, he trained as a Vision Quest Guide and Gestalt therapist, enriching his focus on the emotional and spiritual aspects of healing.

His debut poetry collection, i loved you across the wild, resonates with readers who appreciate contemplative and devotional verse, akin to the work of Mary Oliver, David Whyte, and Joy Harjo. Kiracofe's poetry emerges from personal experiences and a commitment to exploring the sacred in moments of vulnerability and transformation. The collection is timely as readers today seek stillness and meaning in an increasingly chaotic world.
