Habberley, who flew Spitfires during World War II, reflects on a century of experiences in his work. The poems are divided into five main themes: Pilot, Love, Loss, Nature, and Between the Lines. They recount his wartime experiences and his love for his late wife, Peggy, along with his passion for flight and the natural world.

Eddie’s journey into poetry began after a chance encounter with a fellow serviceman. Following the war, he was inspired to write, although his friend did not survive the conflict. The Pilot section of the collection captures the thrill and dangers of flying, while other poems reflect on poignant moments in life.

A lifelong connection to aviation is evident, as evidenced by his commemorative flight in a Spitfire in 2022 at the age of 99, nearly eight decades after his service.

Regarding the publication of his poetry, Eddie expressed his excitement, saying, "It is a great experience for me to get my work published, something I never expected. I am excited to see the first book.”

The Way That Life Goes On stands as a testament to Habberley’s resilience and optimism throughout his remarkable life. Copies of the book will be available starting on November 11, 2025.
