The book Visit the Doctor, illustrated by Slovak artist Robislav Pallo, tells the story of an elderly veterinarian who is visited by the animals he once helped after he falls ill. This heartwarming tale emphasizes themes of coexistence and gratitude, making it relatable to children from diverse backgrounds.
This deal marks a significant milestone for Shandong Education Press, as it aligns with the objectives of the Belt and Road Initiative, fostering international cooperation. Previously, the publisher has introduced several original children's titles to the Arab market, such as Arabic editions of The Story of Two Tails and Liang Xiaosheng’s Fairy Tales. Notably, The Story of Two Tails received funding from China's Silk Road Book Project and the Saudi Arabian government.
At the Frankfurt Book Fair, Bai Hankun, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Shandong Education Press, engaged in discussions with François Hercuet, Editor-in-Chief of Little Urban, about trends in children’s literature. They finalized an agreement for the simplified Chinese rights to The Great Adventure series, which includes immersive picture books designed to enhance children's observational and imaginative skills through their vibrant illustrations.
Shandong Education Press has consistently focused on expanding its international cooperation network. The publisher aims to promote original Chinese literature globally while also introducing quality international titles to enrich early childhood education in China. Moving forward, Shandong Education Press plans to leverage international book fair platforms to enhance cultural exchange and further the dissemination of literature between China and other countries.
