The Martini Club series centers on five retired spies living discreetly in a small town in Maine, employing their unique skills to navigate crises in their lives and community. The series began with "The Spy Coast," followed by "The Summer Guests."
Gerritsen drew inspiration for the series from her realization that many retirees from the CIA and State Department reside in Midcoast Maine. She reflected on her past experiences living on a street where two homes were owned by retired spies, sparking her curiosity about their lives and the secrets they might hold.
Currently, Gerritsen is working on a fourth installment titled "The Italian Affair."
Residing in Camden, Maine, Gerritsen is a trained medical doctor who transitioned into a successful writing career. "The Shadow Friends" marks her 33rd novel. She is also well-known for her Rizzoli and Isles crime series, which inspired the TV show of the same name.
Her works have been translated into 40 languages, with over 40 million copies sold globally. Gerritsen's novels are available in bookstores, and signed copies can be found at Left Bank Books in Belfast, Maine. For further details about the author, visit her website.
